Ethan Mathias is a 17-year-old performer originally from Michigan who moved to New York City at age 12 to work, train, and pursue his dreams.
Theatre credits include You and Me (Off-Broadway), The Last Boy (Off-Broadway and a Broadway benefit), School of Rock (Lawrence) at Tuacahn, and Matilda Jr. (Trunchbull) with Broadway Workshop. Recent film credits include NBC's The Fall & Rise of Reggie Dinkins alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Tracy Morgan, and Teenage Waistband, written by Lee Wilkof.
Ethan has participated in Songbook Academy with Michael Feinstein in 2024, 2025, and 2026, as well as the Eugene O'Neill Cabaret & Performance Conference and the St. Louis Cabaret Conference.
Ethan's solo cabaret debut, Outside the Lines, opened at Don't Tell Mama in spring 2025, winning the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Debut Show – Run of Show and the MAC Award for New York Debut – Male, making him the youngest artist ever to win a MAC Award in its 40-year history. He also received a Pomranz Performance Grant from the American Songbook Association, supporting his follow-up show, Wait 'Til You See What's Next, created with Music Director Michael Lavine and directed by Eric Michael Gillett. Of the show, Lavine has said it reflects Ethan "looking backward and forward" — who he was growing up in Michigan, and who he's becoming. The show opened July 2026 at The Green Room 42 to rave reviews, with NiteLife Exchange's Marilyn Lester calling Ethan "a new sensation and a Lodestar of Cabaret Hope." It returns to The Green Room 42 with new dates this November and December.
A high school graduate at 16, Ethan is now a freshman at Mannes School of Music (The New School), studying with Arthur Levy. He is a Flutie Foundation fellow and is represented by Take 3 Talent and Rebel Creative Group.
